F1Laps vs Sim Racing Telemetry - What's the difference?

Pick Sim Racing Telemetry (SRT) if you want to pay once per game, keep your data in local files, or also race ACC, Assetto Corsa or Automobilista 2. Pick F1Laps if you want every session saved to the cloud automatically, and your laps compared with faster players on the leaderboard.

We make F1Laps, so read this with that in mind. Every SRT fact below comes from SRT's own website, manual and store listings, checked on 28 October 2026.

What It Costs Over Time

SRT is cheaper if all you want is telemetry for one game. F1 26 costs €9.99 once on Steam. F1Laps telemetry is part of Champion at €7.99 a month or €79.99 a year.

Over three game years, if each new SRT pack keeps today's price, SRT costs about €30 and Champion on the yearly plan about €240. SRT purchases don't carry over between stores, so phone plus PC means paying twice. And F1Laps has a free plan that keeps tracking your laps and career.

Plan Price What you get
F1Laps Free €0 Automatic lap tracking in every game mode, lap and sector times, career tracking
F1Laps Premium €2.99/month or €29.99/year Full session data, tyre stints, classifications, season results, analytics
F1Laps Champion €7.99/month or €79.99/year Lap telemetry, delta to a faster lap, racing line
SRT base app Free A limited set of channels and a limited number of saved sessions
SRT game pack €9.99 (F1 26, F1 25), €6.99 (F1 24 and older) Full analysis for that one game, on that one store

New F1Laps accounts get a 7-day Champion trial, no credit card needed. It starts when your first laps import. More on our plans.

Where SRT Is the Better Pick

  • You race more than F1. One app for ACC, Assetto Corsa, Automobilista 2 and the F1 games.
  • You'd rather pay once. No subscription. The developer has said a cloud service is coming, but it was not live when we checked.
  • You want your raw data. SRT exports CSV and keeps sessions as files on your device.
  • You play F1 2016 to F1 2019. F1Laps starts at F1 2020.
  • You're into lap statistics. SRT shows min, max, mean and median for a lap, and a theoretical best lap.

SRT has been in Steam Early Access since 2018. Its reviews sit at 77% positive on Steam (157 reviews), 4.5 on the App Store and 3.8 on Google Play. The common complaints are paying again per game and per store, and having no laps from other drivers to compare with.

Where F1Laps Is the Better Pick

  • You want to know where faster players gain time. On Champion, overlay any of your laps on the leaderboard P1 lap, corner by corner, with the time delta. SRT can only compare laps you or a friend recorded.
  • You don't want to manage files. The telemetry app uploads every session automatically: time trial, career, online and practice. Your history stays in your account across devices.
  • You play career or My Team. F1Laps tracks your seasons for free, with results and standings on Premium.
  • You need a setup to start from. The community setup database ranks setups per track by lap time, and every value is open.
  • You're dialing in AI difficulty. The AI Difficulty Calculator is free and needs no account.

Neither app has a live dashboard. For overlays while you race, see F1Laps vs SimHub.

Connecting Each App

Both apps read the game's UDP telemetry on port 20777. You set them up the same way: turn UDP telemetry on in the game and enter the IP address the app shows.

  • PC: run the app on the gaming PC or on another device on the same network.
  • PlayStation or Xbox: run the app on a phone or tablet on the same network.
  • F1 26: set the UDP format to 2026. In SRT, F1 26 is the 2026 Season Pack for F1 25, sold as its own pack.

Step-by-step guides: PS5, Xbox Series X, F1 26 UDP settings.

Switching Between Them

Nothing transfers either way. F1Laps can't import SRT files, and SRT can't read your F1Laps history. If you switch to F1Laps, your history starts with your next session.
