What SimHub Does
SimHub is a free tool focused on live display during racing:
- Custom dashboard overlays on screen or external displays
- LED integration for shift lights and flags
- Motion rig and haptic feedback control
- Works with many sim racing titles
Limitation: SimHub saves data locally only. Your sessions aren't backed up to the cloud or accessible from other devices.
What F1Laps Does
F1Laps focuses on automatic data capture and post-session analysis:
- Every lap automatically saved to the cloud
- Compare your telemetry against faster drivers
- Access community car setups for every track
- Track career mode progress over time
- Leaderboards to benchmark your pace
Using Both Together
Many racers use SimHub AND F1Laps together:
- SimHub for live dashboard overlay while racing
- F1Laps to analyze sessions afterward and compare laps
Both read the same UDP telemetry stream, so they work simultaneously without conflict.
Forwarding from SimHub to F1Laps on the same PC: if you configure SimHub (or a similar tool) to forward telemetry to the F1Laps app running on the same computer, set the forwarding target to 127.0.0.1 and the port configured in the F1Laps app. The IP address displayed in the F1Laps app is a LAN/VPN address intended for another device — it can change and break the connection.
Which Should You Use?
- Want live dashboards and overlays? → Use SimHub
- Want to improve lap times through analysis? → Use F1Laps
- Want the complete experience? → Use both
