Why is my telemetry not working?

If your F1Laps Telemetry App isn't receiving data from your F1 game, follow this troubleshooting guide.

Telemetry troubleshooting

Step 1: Check Your Connection Status

Go to the Telemetry Apps page and check your "Connection Status":

  • 🟢 Receiving data - Your connection is working. Data is being received from your game right now or was successfully imported recently.
  • 🟡 No recent data - F1Laps has received data from you before, but nothing in the last 24 hours.
  • ⚪ Not connected - F1Laps has never received telemetry data from your account.

Step 2: Troubleshooting Checklist

Work through these steps in order:

1. Update the App

Make sure you have the latest version from the App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft Store.

2. Check Game Year Setting

The F1Laps website only shows data for a specific F1 game year. Make sure you're viewing the correct game year in your profile settings.

3. Match Telemetry Format

Ensure the telemetry format in your F1 game settings matches your game year (e.g., 2024 for F1 24, 2023 for F1 23).

4. Verify IP Address

The IP address in your F1 game's telemetry settings must exactly match the IP shown in the F1Laps app.

5. Check App Code (Windows)

Ensure your App code is correctly copied from the telemetry page and entered into the app.

6. Allow Network Access (Windows)

When first launching the app, you must authorize both public and private network access. If you skipped this, you can configure it via Windows Control Panel > Firewall settings.

7. Disable VPNs

VPNs interfere with telemetry data transmission. Disable any VPN running on the computer.

8. Uninstall Problematic VPNs

Some VPNs cause connection issues even when disabled. If problems persist, completely uninstall the VPN software.

9. Same Network Required

When running F1Laps on a different device than your game (e.g., console players), both devices must be connected to the same WiFi or wired network.

10. Disable Network Tools

Third-party network modification tools can interfere with telemetry. Disable or uninstall tools like:
- Asus GameFirst
- BullGuard Antivirus
- Similar network optimization software

11. Set Send Rate to 20Hz

In your F1 game's telemetry settings, set UDP Send Rate to 20Hz for stability.

12. Try Unicast Mode

If broadcast mode isn't working, disable UDP Broadcast Mode and use direct IP/port (unicast) connection instead.

13. F1 2022 PlayStation Fix

For F1 2022 on PlayStation specifically: change the UDP format to a different value, save settings, then change it back to 2022.

Still Having Issues?

If you're still having trouble after working through the checklist above, contact support with details about your issue, including your connection status and screenshots of your F1 game telemetry settings.
