How to set up F1 telemetry on PlayStation 5
You can capture telemetry from F1 games on PlayStation 5, but it requires a separate device running the F1Laps app. Here's how to set it up.
What You Need
- PlayStation 5 with an F1 game (F1 24, F1 25, etc.)
- A separate device: iPhone, iPad, Windows PC, or Mac
- Both devices connected to the same WiFi network
- A free F1Laps account
Why a Separate Device?
PlayStation consoles don't allow third-party apps to run alongside games. The F1 game broadcasts telemetry data over your local network, and a separate device captures it.
Step-by-Step Setup
Step 1: Create Your F1Laps Account
Register for a free account if you don't have one.
Step 2: Download the F1Laps App
Download the app on your capture device:
- iPhone/iPad: Download from App Store
- Windows/Mac: Download from F1Laps
Step 3: Connect to the Same Network
Make sure your PS5 and capture device are on the same WiFi network. The telemetry data travels over your local network.
Step 4: Get the IP Address
Open the F1Laps app on your capture device. It will display an IP address (something like 192.168.1.50). Write this down - you'll need it for the game settings.
Step 5: Configure F1 Game Settings
On your PS5, start your F1 game and go to Settings > Telemetry Settings:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| UDP Telemetry | On |
| UDP Broadcast Mode | Off |
| UDP IP Address | Enter the IP from Step 4 |
| UDP Port | 20777 |
| UDP Send Rate | 20Hz |
| UDP Format | 2025 (or match your game year) |
Step 6: Start Racing
With the F1Laps app running on your device, start a session in your F1 game. Data will begin syncing automatically.
Check your F1Laps telemetry page - the connection status should show green.
Troubleshooting
If data isn't appearing:
- Check IP address: The IP in your game settings must exactly match what the app shows
- Same network: Both devices must be on the same WiFi
- App running: Keep the F1Laps app open and in the foreground (especially on iOS)
- Firewall: If using Windows, ensure the app has network access
