How do I read telemetry data?
Telemetry data shows exactly what your car is doing at every point on track. Here's how to interpret each trace.
Speed Trace
The speed trace shows your car's velocity in km/h or mph throughout the lap.
- Higher is better on straights
- Minimum speeds through corners show your cornering efficiency
- Compare against faster laps to find where you're losing speed
Throttle Trace (0-100%)
Shows how much throttle you're applying.
- 100% = Full throttle (flat line at top)
- 0% = Off throttle completely
- Key insight: Earlier throttle application on corner exit = faster lap times
- Look for hesitation or lift-offs that cost time
Brake Trace (0-100%)
Shows brake pressure throughout the lap.
- Sharp spike up = Initial brake application
- Gradual release = Trail braking into corner (advanced technique)
- Key insight: Later braking points and smoother release = faster corners
Steering Trace
Shows steering wheel angle.
- Center line = Straight ahead
- Peaks = Maximum steering lock
- Key insight: Smoother steering = more grip and faster corners
- Jagged traces indicate overcorrection or instability
Gear Trace
Shows which gear you're using (1-8).
- Higher gears = More speed but less acceleration
- Lower gears = More acceleration but rev limiter risk
- Compare against faster drivers to optimize gear selection
How to Use This Data
- Find the gaps - Compare your lap to a faster reference lap
- Identify the corners - Where are you losing the most time?
- Check the traces - Is it braking, throttle, or line?
- Make one change - Focus on improving one corner at a time
