How to find F1 car setups for wet conditions

Wet weather requires significantly different car setups than dry conditions. F1Laps' setup database includes thousands of community-shared configurations, including wet-specific setups.

Finding Wet Setups

Step 1: Go to the Setup Database

Visit the F1Laps setup database and select your track.

Step 2: Filter by Weather

Use the weather filter to show only wet setups. You can filter by:

  • Wet - For intermediate or full wet conditions
  • Dry - For dry track conditions

Step 3: Browse Available Setups

Wet setups show:

  • The lap time achieved with that setup
  • Weather conditions when it was used
  • The player who shared it
  • Controller type (wheel vs gamepad)

What Makes a Good Wet Setup

Wet conditions change car behavior dramatically. Good wet setups typically feature:

Higher Downforce

  • Front wing: Higher angles for better front-end grip
  • Rear wing: Increased for stability on corner exit

Straight-line speed matters less in the wet - grip is everything.

Softer Suspension

  • Softer springs help the car handle bumps and kerbs
  • More suspension travel keeps tyres in contact with the track
  • Reduced stiffness prevents sudden oversteer

Adjusted Differential

  • More open differential settings help traction out of corners
  • Prevents wheelspin when applying throttle on wet surfaces

Tyre Pressures

  • Lower pressures can improve contact patch in standing water
  • Temperature management differs from dry conditions

Tips for Wet Racing

Even with a good setup:

  • Be smooth - Aggressive inputs cause slides
  • Avoid painted lines - They're extremely slippery when wet
  • Brake earlier - Stopping distances increase significantly
  • Follow the dry line initially - Rubber deposits provide grip even in light rain

Featured Wet Setups

Each track page shows featured setups for both dry and wet conditions, curated from the best community submissions.

Contributing Setups

If you've developed a fast wet setup, it's automatically shared with the community when you:

  1. Set a competitive lap time using the setup
  2. Have the F1Laps Telemetry App capturing your data

Good setups help everyone improve.
